Getting and installing PGP
PGP can be obtained from HTTP://web.mit.edu/network/pgp.html
You"ll need to answer all of the (annoying) questions (yes) and scroll down to find the good ole' DOS version of
PGP 2.6.2.
When I downloaded PGP, I repackaged the ZIP to contain only the files I needed, and here's what they are:
- config.txt
- en.hlp
- pgp.exe
- pgp.hlp
- pgpdoc1.txt (These two files are required to generate a secret key, just create
- pgpdoc2.txt two empty files and PGP will be happy.)
I have PGP compressed with Diet, and some garbage taken out of config.txt, which leaves me with a
PGP installation of 115536 bytes including my small secret and public keyrings.
Once you've installed PGP and generated a secret key, you can send your key to a Keyserver, which will
allow everyone to gain access to your public key. If this doesn't make sense to
you, please read the pgpdoc1.txt again. The keyserver I use is http://pgp5.ai.mit.edu/
Good luck, let me know if you need any help installing/setting up PGP, I'll do what I can!
